Otra gran jornada en el gringo de la ex isla el Alacrán.

La mañana comenzó muy similar a la jornada anterior, una ola que permitía buenas maniobras pero no de muy buen tamaño, situación que fue variando con el correr de las horas llegando a tener unos 6 pies de altura, algo así como 2 metros y medio de alto.
 

Los primeros vencedores de sus respectivas mangas del Round 4 fueron : Heat(5): Igor Sánchez (CAN) / Heat (6): Boris Villalobos(CHL) / Heat (7): Iván Hernández (CAN) / Heat (8): Alberto Colucci (VEN).

El round 5 estuvo marcad por la gran presentación del Chileno Alexander Widtman que entre tubos y rollos se llevo su manga con un increíble 15.84, dejando en el camino a un gran contendor de nivel internacional como Damian King (Australia) a quien sus espectaculares piruetas y vuelos no le alcanzaron para superar la constancia del Iquiqueño.

El otro chileno que seguía en competencia no pudo en la séptima manga del round 5 ante Iván Hernández quién se llevo este heat con un puntaje espectacular de 19.33, por lo que el único chileno en competencia es Widtman quién en la jornada de mañana tendrá que enfrentarse al hawaiano Dave Hubbard en la manga 3 del round 6.

La jornada culminó alrededor de las 12:30 pm, con una increíble presentación del australiano Michael Novy, quién mostró todo su potencial en unas olas superiores a 2 metros llevándose su manga con 15.83 puntos.

Lugo de la competencia se inició un free surf , donde se hicieron presente competidores de la talla del defensor del Título del ACC Guilherme Tamega y Ben Player entre otros.

El día de mañana ya se viene con mucha más fuerza y con la participación de los mejores del mundo, incluyendo a los ya nombrados Tamega de Brasil y Player de Australia, entra en competencia la máxima leyenda de este deporte Mike Stewart de Hawai y Uri Valadao defensor del título de campeón mundial, quien abre la competencia del round 6 en la primera manga junto al joven Australiano Tom Rigby, Yeray Martinez de Canadá y Fabio Rodríguez de Brasil.

La cita es a las 7:30 de la mañana para ver a los mejores del mundo desplegar sus más espectaculares maniobras y sentir la emoción de la segunda fecha más importante del tour mundial, el Arica Chilean Challenge.

Day 6

The Arica Chilean Challenge started the day by finishing off round number four. The conditions had dropped from the day before but still provided the odd 2 to 4 ft wave. Heat 4 round 1 saw Jason Bitzer (USA) taken out with only one scoring wave to Pablo Peirto (Germany) and Igor Sanchez who both where able to find two scoring riders in the difficult early morning high tide conditions. The following heat saw a Boris Villalobos (Chile) take down yet another heat follower by Spain's Diego Cabrera who was originally on the injured list but pulled through in time to compete. Ivan Hernandez dominated heat 6 round 4 and drew a interference against Australia's Chad Jackson during a ride Jackson needed to progress leaving David Mantellini in second place at heats end.The next heat Alberto Colucci (VEN) took down down the entire field with     Francirley Ferreira (Brazil) placing 2nd. Thomas Rigby came through in his next heat with last minute heroics winning the first heat of round 5 with a spitting barrel to roll followed by Rene Xavier (Brazil). Rui Pereira (Port) claimed a heat 2 round 5 win over Fabio Rodrigues (Brazil) who also progressed. The fiercest competition of the day was found in Heat 3 with Alexandre Widtman (Chile) finding every barrel that came through scoring a total of 15.84 followed by a 12.33 total score by Bruno Rocha (BRA) leaving 2x World Champion Daimen King in third and out of the event. Brad Hughes absolutely dominated his heat with a combo that landed him a 8.9 with a roll to roll to spin to invert on the right finding a total score of 15.16 and in second with a 12.17 Dave Hubbard passed to surf another day! Another high scoring heat was preformed with 16.16 total score by Diego Cabrera winning the following heat over Airem Cabrera (CAN).     Rui Ferreira (PRT) once again won his heat in round 5 with a 15.17 to an 11.66 posted by Pablo Pierto (Germany).     Ivan Hernandez (CAN) dominated his next heat with a 19.33 with a 12.17 being the next best combined scored from Francirley Ferreira (Brazil). Micheal Novy was on fire with clean spins to inverts and barrel rides winning his heat 5 with a combined score of    15.83, in second was 11.66 Gastao Entrudo (PRT)to finish the days contest. Tomorrow may be an off day with a possible World Team Challenge. The criteria will be top 3 waves scored per team.
